Overview

Established in 1988, Ajman University (AU) is a pioneering private institution of higher education located in Ajman, United Arab Emirates. It holds the distinction of being the first private university in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and the first in the UAE to admit expatriate students of both genders.

The university offers 39 programs, including 24 undergraduate, 13 graduate, and 2 doctoral degrees, all accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education. ​

Accreditations and Rankings:

In 2020, AU became one of the first six higher education institutions globally to receive accreditation from the UK's Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). Additionally, AU is the first private and non-profit university in the UAE and the Arab region to be accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). ​

AU has achieved notable positions in various academic rankings. In March 2025, it was ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide and #1 in the UAE for Data Science & Artificial Intelligence. ​

Campus Life and Facilities:

AU provides a vibrant campus life with around 100 different clubs for students to join throughout the academic year. The university has established relationships with institutions worldwide, facilitating academic exchanges, research collaborations, and study abroad opportunities. As a result, the campus hosts students from approximately 70 different nationalities.
