Overview

Samara University, officially known as Samara National Research University named after Academician S.P. Korolev, is one of Russia’s top institutions specialising in aerospace engineering, science, and technology. Located in Samara, a key industrial and cultural city on the banks of the Volga River, the university has earned a prestigious reputation, particularly in the fields of aviation, space research, and engineering.

Founded in 1942 as the Kuibyshev Aviation Institute, it was renamed in honour of Sergei Korolev, the chief designer of the Soviet space program. Today, Samara University offers a wide range of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs across engineering, physics, computer science, economics, and social sciences. It is renowned for its close collaboration with Roscosmos (the Russian space agency), and various aerospace corporations and research centres.

The university is a member of Russia’s Project 5-100 initiative aimed at enhancing global competitiveness, and it actively participates in international collaborations, student exchanges, and joint research.
