Overview

New York University (NYU) is a private institution established in 1831, with a total undergraduate enrollment of 29,760 as of fall 2023. The university is located in an urban setting and follows a semester-based academic calendar. 

NYU's main campus is situated in the vibrant Greenwich Village area of Manhattan, making it a true city university, where the campus seamlessly blends with the streets of New York City. The university offers guaranteed housing for all students throughout their four years, with many upperclassmen opting to live off-campus in apartments around the city. While the Greek life at NYU is relatively small, it remains active, with over 30 fraternity and sorority chapters. The university also boasts more than 300 student organizations, including WNYU, the student radio station, which broadcasts both online and on a local FM channel.
