Overview

The University of Regina is situated on the traditional lands of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda peoples, as well as the homeland of the Métis/Michif Nation. Its campuses are located in Regina and Saskatoon, within Treaty 4 and Treaty 6 territories in Saskatchewan, Canada.

As a comprehensive institution, the university traces its origins to 1911 and became an independent degree-granting university in 1974. It comprises 10 faculties, 25 academic departments and schools, 10 research centres, and three federated colleges: Campion College, First Nations University of Canada, and Luther College.

In 2021, the University of Regina had over 16,000 full-time and part-time students. Its tuition fees align with the national average, and it ranks among the top comprehensive universities in terms of student financial support, measured as a percentage of tuition.

The Regina campuses are situated within Wascana Park, offering a scenic and conducive environment for studying and working. Additionally, both campuses are entirely smoke-free, reflecting the university’s commitment to fostering a safe and healthy space for students, staff, and visitors.

In the QS World University Rankings 2025, it falls within the 951–1000 bracket, while the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025 places it in the 801–1000 range. According to the U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities, it holds the 935th position worldwide. Nationally, Maclean's 2023 rankings position the University of Regina 15th among comprehensive universities in Canada. These rankings highlight the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and research on both national and international levels.
