Overview

Founded in 1875, Queen Margaret University (QMU) is home to approximately 5,000 students. Its compact size fosters a welcoming and supportive learning environment. The modern campus features a state-of-the-art learning resource centre that integrates IT and library services, along with innovative teaching and learning spaces. Students also benefit from 800 en-suite residences, a dedicated student union building, and top-tier indoor and outdoor sports facilities.

QMU offers a diverse range of courses with a strong vocational and professional focus, particularly in healthcare, business and management, social sciences, and drama and theatre arts.

  • School of Health Sciences – Provides Scotland’s most extensive selection of health-related degrees, including dietetics, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry, radiography, audiology, art therapy, music therapy, and speech & language therapy.
  • School of Arts, Social Sciences and Management – Offers a variety of programmes, including British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited courses. QMU is the only university in Scotland to provide Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) accredited programmes and the CIPR Diploma. The Drama and Creative Industries courses train future actors, directors, stage managers, playwrights, producers, community theatre professionals, and cultural managers. Other popular disciplines include tourism, hospitality, events, marketing, and business management.
