Overview

Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) is one of China's oldest and most esteemed agricultural universities, overseen by the Ministry of Education. Its origins date back to 1902 with the establishment of the Department of Agriculture at Sanjiang Normal School. NAU takes pride in being a pioneer in modern agricultural education, research, and extension, and was the forerunner of China's four-year undergraduate agricultural programs.

The university offers 60 bachelor's programs, 157 master's programs, 77 PhD programs, and 13 post-doctoral research opportunities. It also provides professional PhD and master's degrees in veterinary medicine, agricultural extension, engineering, landscape and gardening, public administration (MPA), business administration (MBA), accounting, finance, and international business.

Since its founding, NAU has trained over 100,000 students. Currently, it has 32,000 enrolled students, including around 17,000 undergraduates, over 8,800 graduate students, and 6,200 continuing education students. The NAU Graduate School, established in 2000 with Ministry of Education approval, is one of 56 universities in China with graduate programs. Since 1978, the university has trained more than 25,000 graduate students, including 4,800 PhD candidates.
