Overview

China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) offers a broad range of academic programs, including 59 undergraduate courses, 35 master’s programs in first-level disciplines, 9 professional degrees, 16 first-level doctoral programs, and 14 post-doctoral programs. The university is recognized for its excellence in several fields, with one key first-grade discipline and 8 priority disciplines designated by the Chinese government as part of the national educational agenda, alongside one national key incubated discipline. Additionally, 8 disciplines benefit from the expertise of Special-term Professors under the “Chang Jiang Scholars Program,” and 4 first-grade key disciplines are recognized at the ministerial or provincial level. Moreover, 5 disciplines have received approval under the “Advantageous Discipline Construction Program” in Jiangsu Province.

In 2012, during the third round of discipline evaluations by the Ministry of Education, CUMT’s disciplines in Mineral Engineering, Safety Science and Engineering, Surveying and Mapping Technology, and Geological Resources and Geological Engineering were ranked first, second, third, and fourth, respectively. The university's Engineering Science was also placed in the top 1% of ESI rankings globally, encompassing all universities and research institutions.

CUMT’s academic staff is highly qualified, with over 3,100 members, including 1,700 full-time teachers, 317 professors, and 478 associate professors. Additionally, 273 doctoral supervisors and 651 master’s supervisors contribute to the university's teaching excellence. Approximately 60% of the faculty members hold doctoral degrees, and the university is proud to employ 14 academicians, including 7 from external research institutes and universities, who serve as deans of various schools.
