Overview

The Paris Lodron University of Salzburg (PLUS) is the largest educational institution in Salzburg, accommodating nearly 18,000 students and employing around 2,900 staff across research, teaching, and administration. The university plays a vital role in the cultural and economic life of the region, serving as a hub for interaction between students, faculty, academia, and the local community. Its name honours its founder, Prince Archbishop Paris Lodron, who established the university in 1622. Since its re-establishment in 1962, PLUS has evolved into a dynamic and modern institution.

Many of the university's facilities are located in architecturally stunning buildings in the heart of Salzburg. The Freisaal campus, housing the Faculty of Natural Sciences, and the UNIPARK campus in Nonntal form the core of the university's modern infrastructure. Additional locations include Itzling and Rif, along with campuses in Linz, Krems, and Vienna.

PLUS offers a diverse range of educational programmes, with 30 degree options spanning Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, and diploma programmes. Students have the flexibility to tailor their studies by choosing focus areas and enrolling in supplementary courses across various disciplines. The university also provides numerous part-time Continuing Education Programmes, some of which are delivered in collaboration with other institutions.
