Ritsumeikan University traces its origins to 1869, when Prince Kinmochi Saionji, a distinguished statesman in modern Japan, established “Ritsumeikan” as a private academy at the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The university offers a diverse range of advanced courses across its campuses: the Kinugasa Campus in Kyoto, the Biwako-Kusatsu Campus (BKC) in Shiga, and the Osaka Ibaraki Campus (OIC) in Osaka.
Today, Ritsumeikan is recognized as one of Japan's leading private universities, consistently ranking among the top private institutions in the prestigious QS World University Rankings.
