Overview

Zhengzhou University, founded on July 10, 2000, resulted from the merger of three former universities: the original Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology, and Henan Medical University. The original Zhengzhou University, established in 1956, was the first comprehensive university in China. Zhengzhou University of Technology, founded in 1963, was a key national institution directly managed by the Ministry of Chemical Engineering. Henan Medical University, established in 1928, was a prominent medical college in Henan Province. Today, Zhengzhou University spans 12 academic fields, including science, engineering, medicine, literature, and law, and is part of the Project 211 initiative. It is the only university in Henan included in the Midwest Universities Comprehensive Strength Promotion Project, which is supported by both the Henan Provincial Government and the Ministry of Education. The university has 46 faculties, 9 affiliated hospitals, and offers a wide range of academic programs, including 107 undergraduate programs, 55 first-level master's programs, 237 second-level master's programs, 21 first-level doctoral programs, 124 second-level doctoral programs, as well as various professional and postdoctoral research opportunities.
