Overview

Founded in 1402, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) is one of Germany's oldest universities, with a vibrant community of over 28,000 students. Many renowned scientists have studied, taught, and conducted research at JMU, and its tradition of cutting-edge research continues to inspire scientists to explore new frontiers of knowledge. The university offers a supportive environment for early-career researchers, fostering independence. To date, JMU researchers have received 29 ERC Grants for pioneering research and 11 prestigious Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prizes from the German Research Foundation (DFG).
