Shandong University (SDU) stands as one of China’s oldest and most prestigious universities, established in 1901. It holds the distinction of being the nation’s second national university, following Jingshi University (the Metropolitan University). Recognised by the Ministry of Education as a "national key comprehensive university," SDU was included among 21 national key first-class universities in 2001.
Located in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, the university spans a massive area of 3.849 square kilometers. This region is known for its economic significance and cultural heritage, being the cradle of Qilu culture and a historically vibrant contributor to Chinese civilization.
SDU comprises 31 schools and colleges, offering programs across 11 academic disciplines, including philosophy, law, economics, literature, natural sciences, and engineering.
