Situated in the vibrant city of Montreal, the University of Montreal is a prominent research institution with a strong international reputation.

In collaboration with its affiliated schools—Polytechnique Montreal (engineering) and HEC Montreal (business)—the university forms one of the largest academic hubs in North America.

With annual research funding exceeding $680 million, the University of Montreal ranks as the fourth-largest research university in Canada. It has been the birthplace of world-renowned research centres such as MILA, a global leader in deep learning; the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC), renowned for its productivity; and the Centre de recherche en droit public (CRDP), Canada’s most extensive public law research centre.
