Overview

The Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS) is Ireland’s third technological university, formed in 2021 by the merger of two well-established institutes of technology: Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT), founded in 1970, and Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT), established in 1975. With over 14,000 students, TUS operates across several campuses in central and western Ireland, including two in Athlone, and one each in Limerick City, Thurles, Clonmel, and Ennis. Known for its innovation and emphasis on research-based education, TUS is one of Ireland's newest technological universities, dedicated to fostering creativity and fresh ideas.
