Overview

Founded in 1769, Dartmouth College is a prestigious private institution and a member of the Ivy League, located in Hanover, New Hampshire. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate programs, with over 40 departments and interdisciplinary areas of study. Additionally, it houses graduate schools in Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering, and Business, serving over 6,000 students, including approximately 4,000 undergraduates and 2,000 postgraduates.

The faculty of Arts and Sciences spans 40 departments, covering subjects from art history, languages, and theatre to chemistry, earth sciences, anthropology, and sociology. Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine, the fourth oldest in the U.S., offers MD degrees as well as graduate education in biomedical sciences, public health, and healthcare delivery. The Thayer School of Engineering, one of the oldest in the U.S., offers undergraduate degrees and a Master of Engineering Management, along with a unique PhD in Innovation.

The Tuck School of Business, founded in 1900, provides a full-time MBA and other non-degree programs. Dartmouth also has a large off-campus network, offering 45 faculty-led programs in more than 20 countries, with 60% of undergraduates participating in these international opportunities during their studies.

In terms of global rankings, Dartmouth College consistently holds a strong position. According to Times Higher Education, it is ranked 168th universities worldwide​. Additionally, in the QS World University Rankings 2025, Dartmouth is ranked 243rd globally, showcasing its consistent performance at the international level​. Meanwhile, U.S. News & World Report ranks Dartmouth 15th among national universities in the United States​
