Cardiff Metropolitan University, located across three campuses in the heart of Wales's capital city, is home to approximately 12,000 students from over 140 countries. Originally founded as the Cardiff School of Art & Design in 1865, it became an independent university in 2011. Cardiff Metropolitan University is ranked 66th in the Times University Guide 2025 and 82nd in the Guardian University Guide 2025. In the REF 2021, nearly 88% of the university's research in sports was classified as internationally excellent or world-leading. Additionally, its art and design research achieved 83% world-leading impact, placing Cardiff Met 5th in the UK, with the remaining output rated internationally excellent.
