Bath Spa University, primarily focused on arts and humanities, was established in 1852 and gained university status in 2005. Located across several campuses in and around Bath, its main campus, Newton Park, boasts some of the best digital media teaching facilities in the UK, completed in 2014. Compared to the 2014 assessment, the university saw a 60% increase in research classified as ‘world-leading’ and a 130% rise in research impact. Particularly strong results were seen in English and Creative Writing, where over 80% (84%) of the research was rated as either ‘world-leading’ (4) or ‘internationally excellent’ (3), the highest possible classifications.
