City, University of London is ranked 49th in the Times University Guide 2025, 38th in the Guardian University Guide 2025, and 352nd in the QS World University Rankings 2025. The University has established itself as a top 400 global institution, with seven of its subjects ranked in the top 200 worldwide. Communications and Media stands out as the top performer. City also has a strong reputation in music, in partnership with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Additionally, its Nursing and Midwifery programs, along with social work and social policy, perform well in subject rankings. City ranks 39th in the UK out of 129 universities (excluding specialist institutions) in the 2021 REF, improving by 12 places since 2014. The proportion of its research rated as world-leading (4*) has nearly doubled to 40% in REF 2021, up from 23% in 2014.
