Overview

Each year, the Cecil Renaud Overseas Scholarship offers a remarkable opportunity for bright South African students aspiring to study in the United Kingdom. Established in 1993 in honor of Dr. Cecil Renaud, a philanthropist deeply committed to education and upliftment in South Africa, this scholarship provides full funding for postgraduate studies at prestigious UK institutions. Let’s delve into what makes this scholarship such a life-changing opportunity and how eligible students can apply.

The Scholarship, usually granted annually to one or two students, is awarded for a maximum of two years for post-graduate study (Masters degree (or equivalent) or PhD) in the United Kingdom at a university of the student’s choice.

Since 1994, we have awarded 36 scholarships to the best and brightest young South Africans. Following the application deadline, candidates will be shortlisted and invited to interview. After the interviews, the trustees may select up to two candidates.
