To support this aspiration, the British Council offers the GREAT Scholarships, which provide financial assistance to Indian students pursuing postgraduate studies in the UK. 

The GREAT Scholarships are part of a collaborative initiative between the British Council and various UK universities, aimed at encouraging international students to study in the UK. These scholarships are designed to promote the UK as a destination for higher education and to support students from India who demonstrate academic excellence and potential.

Who Can Apply?

• Citizen and present residents of India, China, Indonesia, Turkey, Malaysia or Thailand.
• Completed UG degree in your home country.
  • Eg: GREAT Scholarship- India applicants must have done a UG degree from Indian college.
• Dedicated and academically excellent to pursue a master's/postgraduate (taught) program in the UK.
  • Relevant work experience or proven interest in the chosen field of study.
• Fulfill English language requirement of the interested UK university via IELTS or equivalent test score.
• Chosen postgraduate program must begin in September.

Application Procedure

The application process for the GREAT Scholarships typically involves several steps:

1. Research and Choose a Course: Students should explore various UK universities and their postgraduate programs. It’s essential to ensure that the chosen course aligns with their career aspirations.

2. Secure Admission: Before applying for the scholarship, students must obtain an offer of admission from a UK university that participates in the GREAT Scholarships program.

3. Prepare Required Documents: The application usually requires the following documents:

   • A completed scholarship application form
   • Academic transcripts and certificates
   • Proof of admission to a UK university
   • A personal statement or motivation letter
   • CV/resume

4. Submit the Application: Applications are generally submitted online through the British Council or the respective university's scholarship portal. It’s crucial to adhere to the application deadlines.

5. Await Results: After submission, candidates will be notified about the selection results. Successful applicants will receive details regarding the scholarship award.

What Financial Support is Available?

• Each scholarship was worth a minimum of £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course.
