The GREAT Scholarships are a collaborative initiative between the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign and the British Council. They aim to attract outstanding international students to pursue higher education in the UK. By offering financial assistance, the programme helps talented individuals access world-class education, fostering academic excellence and global cultural exchange.
In collaboration with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, The University of Manchester is offering five scholarships to students from Bangladesh, France, Greece, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam, who are applying for one-year master’s programmes and will begin their studies in the 2025/26 academic year.
Be a citizen of a participating country (e.g., India, China, Ghana, Nigeria, etc.). Check the official university website for the latest list of eligible countries.
Hold an offer for a full-time postgraduate taught course at Manchester University.
Meet the English language requirements for the programme.
Demonstrate outstanding academic performance and leadership potential.
Be willing to act as an ambassador for the UK’s higher education system.
Secure an offer for a postgraduate taught programme at Manchester University.
Submit a separate application for the GREAT Scholarship through the university’s portal. This includes:
A personal statement explaining your academic achievements, career goals, and how the scholarship will help you achieve them.
Supporting documents such as academic transcripts, proof of English proficiency, and references.
Ensure all application materials are submitted by the specified deadline.
You must complete a GREAT scholarship application form by 24 April 2025. This will be emailed to all relevant offer holders by the International Office. Successful applicants will be notified by 30 May 2025.
A tuition fee waiver of up to £10,000 for a one-year postgraduate course.
Scholarships will be offered for the study of full time, on-campus postgraduate taught (MA, MSc) programmes only. Applications for MBA, MPhil, MEnt, Master of Architecture (MArch), Architecture & Urbanism (MA) and Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Clinical Medicine and Dentistry degrees are not eligible for the award.
Applicants for the following Master’s by Research courses will not be eligible:
