Who Can Apply?
This scholarship is available to all nationalities.
This Scholarship is available only to students intending to commence PhD study in September 2025 and who are pursuing a PhD topic in one of the following fields:
- social justice
- gender and equality
- human rights
- peace and conflict resolution
Please note this award is only for PhD study, not for MSc by Research.
When making decisions, the Selection Committee will consider:
- the applicant's academic achievements
- research proposal
- research potential
- any publications made
- any relevant non-academic experience
- the degree of support provided by references
Financial status and nationality are not taken into account.
Application Procedure
The application process for the Chrystal Macmillan PhD Scholarship involves two key steps:
1. Apply for Your PhD Programme
- Begin by submitting an application for your desired PhD degree programme through the University’s online application system, EUCLID.
- Ensure your PhD application is submitted at least 5 working days before the scholarship deadline to activate your University Username (UUN, e.g., s1234567), which is required to apply for the scholarship.
- A complete application must include:
- Research proposal
- Final or interim official undergraduate and postgraduate transcripts (only undergraduate transcripts are required for PhD Social Anthropology applications)
- Name of your proposed supervisor
- References
2. Apply for the Chrystal Macmillan PhD Scholarship
- After submitting your PhD application, you can access the scholarship application form through the EUCLID applicant hub in MyEd.
- You can apply for the scholarship even before receiving an offer for your PhD programme, but your degree application must be complete by the deadline for your scholarship application to be considered.
Important Notes
- Supporting documents (research proposal, transcripts, references) provided for your PhD application will automatically be used for your scholarship application.
- Each funding opportunity requires a separate application form.
- The Chrystal Macmillan Scholarship is highly competitive, with demand exceeding available awards each year.
