UTRIP, or the University of Tokyo Research Internship Program, was initiated by the Graduate School of Science (GSS) at the University of Tokyo, a leading global institution in research and education. Launched in June 2010 as part of the GSS's internationalization efforts, UTRIP aims to invite talented undergraduate students from around the world. This summer research program is designed for students interested in pursuing M.S. or Ph.D. degrees in the future.
Participants receive expert research guidance from distinguished faculty members across GSS’s five departments: physics, astronomy, chemistry, earth and planetary science, and biological sciences. The program is open to undergraduate students currently enrolled in their second year or later at an accredited institution outside Japan, with a focus on natural sciences or related fields.
Additionally, the program includes an excursion beyond Tokyo and a short course in Japanese language and culture. UTRIP offers a valuable experience to prepare for graduate-level challenges while immersing students in the academic life at the University of Tokyo.
