Overview

The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program provides a comprehensive and immersive 11-week research experience aimed at inspiring undergraduate students to pursue advanced education and research-oriented careers. Open to students from Purdue University, other U.S. institutions, and international universities, the program places participants under the mentorship of faculty, graduate students, or postdoctoral researchers. Research takes place at either Purdue’s West Lafayette or Indianapolis campuses.

This prestigious fellowship is a paid opportunity and includes weekly workshops and seminars focused on enhancing participants' technical and communication skills. The program concludes with a student research symposium, where participants showcase their findings. Additionally, all fellows are required to submit a final report summarizing their research outcomes to their project advisor and the Engineering Undergraduate Research Office (EURO). The SURF program is an invaluable experience for students looking to excel in academic and professional research fields.
