Who Can Apply?

• Persons residing in Canada or Canadian citizens and permanent residents abroad.
• Enrollment in a doctoral program at a recognized institution in political science, international relations, economics, law, history, or a related field.
• Achieved candidacy status (completion of coursework, exams, and an approved dissertation proposal).
• Proficiency in either English or French.

Application Procedure

1. Prepare Application Materials:
   Ensure you have all required documents ready:

   • Updated résumé.
   • Cover letter (maximum 1,000 words) detailing your interest in the fellowship and alignment with Global Affairs Canada’s mandate.
   • Complete academic transcript.
   • Research proposal (up to 1,000 words) on a significant foreign policy issue.
   • Sample paper or publication.
   • Proof of full-time enrollment in a PhD program, valid for the fellowship duration.
   • Contact information for three professional references.

2. Submission:

   • Submit your application through the designated online platform or as specified by Global Affairs Canada.
   • Complete the Employment Equity section to support the department’s diversity and inclusion initiatives.

What Financial Support is Available?

• Fellows receive remuneration for their contributions to research and policy development at Global Affairs Canada. Specific details about the pay structure will be provided to selected candidates during the onboarding process.
• The fellowship is for a maximum of 12 months, with fellows working up to 25 hours per week.
