Overview

Grist, a nonprofit media organization dedicated to climate solutions, sustainability, and environmental justice, is offering an exciting opportunity for early-career journalists passionate about climate reporting. The Climate News Fellow will join Grist’s editorial team for a 12-month, full-time fellowship, starting in May 2025. This fellowship provides a platform for individuals to contribute to in-depth, timely stories on critical climate issues, including policy, science, and sustainable solutions.

Who Can Apply?

This fellowship is ideal for early-career journalists who are passionate about climate issues. Applicants should possess:

• A four-year degree or equivalent experience
• Strong writing skills and research experience
• A deep commitment to a 12-month, full-time fellowship
• A demonstrated passion for climate and environmental reporting

What Financial Support is Available?

• 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for employees.
• The annual base pay for this position is $58,750. 

Other Details

Responsibilities

• Pitch and write timely stories on climate science, politics, and policy
• Publish 2–3 stories weekly, including quick takes and features
• Collaborate on team projects and contribute to Grist’s newsletters
• Assist with production tasks such as research, fact-checking, and copy-editing
