The Dalhousie University Scholarships 2025-2026 provide funding for Master's and PhD students, offering up to $30,000 in benefits, including monthly stipends, accommodation costs, fee waivers, and health insurance. Through the Harmonized Scholarship Process, applicants can access multiple funding opportunities using a single application.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be proficient in English.
- Be from any country worldwide.
- For Master’s scholarships, follow the CGS-M evaluation criteria for crafting research proposals.
- For PhD scholarships, adhere to the selection criteria for Harmonized CGS-Doctoral programs.
Application Procedure
To apply for Dalhousie University Scholarships, please follow these steps:

Access the FGS Scholarship Management Platform
- If you have a Dalhousie NetID, select “Use Dalhousie NetID” to log in.
- If not, register using your email address and create a password. A single account is sufficient even if you plan to apply for multiple opportunities.

Start or Edit Your Application
- On the home page, select “My applications” to create a new application or edit an existing one.
- Only one application per competition is allowed, so avoid submitting multiple Harmonized Scholarship applications.

Opt-in for Tri-Agency CGS-M Competition (for Master’s Applicants)
- If you have applied for the Tri-Agency CGS-M competition, you can opt to use that application within the Harmonized Scholarship Process.
- Select “Master’s Level – CGS-M Opt-In” as your submission category. Your CGS-M application, including reference letters and transcripts, will be linked.
- The opt-in deadline is December 1, coinciding with the CGS-M application deadline. If not opting in, complete a full Harmonized Scholarship Application.

Complete the Self-Identification Questionnaire
- Fill out the self-identification questionnaire in the Online Scholarship Platform.
- This information helps administrators match applicants with awards having specific eligibility criteria. Responses are confidential and not visible to reviewers.

Navigate Through the Application
- Use the “Next” button to move between pages of the application.
- Click “Save” to pause and return later for updates or edits.

Upload Official Transcripts
- Obtain official transcripts and combine them into a single PDF before uploading them to the portal.
- Note that FGS will not provide transcripts from admission applications. Current Dalhousie students may submit unofficial grade reports instead.

Submit Reference Letters
- Reference letters must be uploaded to the portal by the deadline of January 16, 2024 (or February 15 for non-thesis applicants).
- Letters sent by email or hard copy will not be accepted.
- Applicants should inform referees of an earlier deadline to account for any emergencies or technical issues. Notifications will confirm when letters are received.

Finalize Your Application
- Review the terms and conditions, then click “Save and Finalize” to submit your application.
Note:
- Applications can be withdrawn for updates until January 15, including adding fall grades or incorporating departmental feedback. However, they must be resubmitted before the deadline to remain eligible.
What Financial Support is Available?
Dalhousie University Scholarships are of following types:
Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship
- The Master’s level award is valued at $10,000/year for 2 years (subject to annual renewal).
- Doctoral level awards are valued at $15,000/year for 4 years (subject to annual renewal).
Killam Predoctoral Scholarships
- Master’s (Level 1): Up to $42,000 per year for up to two years, plus $2,500 toward international tuition fees and relocation allowance, if applicable
- Doctoral (Level 2): Up to $42,000 per year for up to three years, plus relocation allowance if applicable.
Vitamin Scholarship
- The Award is valued at $19,000 (Masters) and $21,000 (Doctoral) for a 12-month academic year (one-two awards per year)
Abdul Majid Bader Graduate Scholarship
- The scholarship is valued at $40,000 for one 12-month academic year of full-time study. The scholarship is renewable, subject to an annual progress review.
- The award can be held for a maximum of 24 months of full-time study.
- Fees are not waived and must be paid out of the award.
- One new award is made each year.
