Overview

The World Bank Government Analytics Fellowship Program is an innovative initiative aimed at unlocking the potential of underutilized government data to drive more efficient and informed public administration. Drawing from the insights in the Government Analytics Handbook and guided by World Bank experts and academics, the Fellowship provides cutting-edge evidence and practical tools to enhance governmental operations. It is a joint effort by the World Bank’s Development Economics Vice-Presidency (DEC) and the Governance Global Practice (GGP).

This program combines in-person training with hands-on support from senior experts at the World Bank and University College London, enabling participants to design and implement a Government Analytics project tailored to their administration’s needs.

Spanning six months, the Fellowship includes an intensive two-week in-person training in Washington, D.C., featuring the Public Administration Forum and the Government Analytics course, complemented by ongoing virtual and applied learning opportunities.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify, applicants must:

• Work in central government organisations (including agencies).
• Hold positions as mid-level managers or senior analysts with project development authority.
• Have completed tertiary-level coursework in statistics or quantitative methods.
• Be proficient in English.
• Be officially nominated by their organisation (up to two fellows per organisation).

Submit the following documents in English:

1. Comprehensive CV (maximum 3 pages): Highlight relevant qualifications and professional experience.
2. 150-Word Project Summary: Explain how insights from the fellowship will benefit your organisation.
3. Endorsement Letter: Confirming your role and nomination by your organisation.

What Financial Support is Available?

• The fellowship extends over six months, featuring an intensive two-week in-person training in Washington, D.C., requiring full-time commitment during this period.
• Attendance at the World Bank Global Forum for Public Administration and the Government Analytics course in Washington, D.C., is fully funded by the World Bank, covering accommodation, travel, and daily subsistence.
