The University of Leeds Fully Funded PhD Excellence Scholarship 2025 is an exceptional opportunity for students looking to pursue a research degree at one of the UK's leading institutions. This scholarship provides full funding for both tuition fees and living expenses, offering a generous maintenance stipend to support students throughout their research journey.

Who Can Apply?

• Applicants must not have already received or be currently enrolled in a doctoral program.
• The scholarship must be accepted by October 1, 2025.
• This award is intended for new Postgraduate Researchers pursuing full-time or part-time research that will lead to a PhD. Current PhD students are not eligible to apply.
• Recipients must reside within a reasonable distance of the University of Leeds while receiving the scholarship.
• For international applicants, proof of English language proficiency (IELTS 7.0 overall with no component below 6.5)

Application Procedure

Stage 1:

• To begin, complete the study application form for a research position. Ensure that you clearly specify the department scholarship you wish to apply for. You will need to meet the eligibility criteria for PhD candidates.
• For consideration for the scholarship, you must submit all the required supporting documents along with your PhD application.
• After receiving your 9-digit student ID number, you can proceed to Stage 2.

Stage 2:

• Next, apply for one of the Leeds University Business School Department Scholarships by filling out the appropriate scholarship application form. The university offers seven different departments, each with its own scholarship competition. Make sure you apply for the scholarship corresponding to the department where you have applied or received an offer. The scholarship application must be submitted by 12 pm on Friday, 28th March 2025.

What Financial Support is Available?

• The scholarship covers full academic fees and provides a maintenance grant of £19,237 for full-time students in the 2024/25 academic year. For part-time students, this grant is adjusted to 60% of the full amount. The funding increases annually based on the UKRI rate. Full-time recipients receive fee coverage for 3 years and a maintenance award for up to 3.5 years, with part-time awards being proportionally reduced.
• The scholarship covers all academic fees for the entire duration of the PhD program, ensuring that students are free from financial worries related to tuition.
• In addition to tuition coverage, the scholarship provides a maintenance grant to cover living costs, typically at the rate aligned with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) standards.
