The ADB-JSP Scholarship aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) developing member countries.

Who Can Apply?

  1. Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of ADB's developing member countries, which include India.
  2. Academic Qualifications: Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a minimum of two years of professional work experience in a relevant field by the time they apply.
  3. Program of Study: Applicants must apply to a postgraduate program at one of the designated Japanese universities that are part of the ADB-JSP network. The fields of study typically relate to economics, management, public administration, environmental science, and other development-related disciplines.
  4. Age Limit: Generally, candidates should be under 35 years of age at the time of application. However, this age limit may vary for certain programs or institutions.
  5. English Language Proficiency
    • Since the courses are conducted in English, applicants must demonstrate a sufficient level of proficiency in the language. This may involve submitting scores from recognized English language tests or providing evidence of prior education in English. 
    • Minimum acceptable scores are 550 for the paper-based TOEFL; 213 for computer-based TOEFL;  and 79-80 for the internet-based  TOEFL iBT; or 6.5 for the IELTS.

Application Procedure

  1. Request to be considered for this scholarship within the APU Online Application and submit the application by November 13, 2024 or January 10, 2025 (for September 2025 enrollment). April enrollment is not available.
  2. APU reviews application documents and selects suitable candidates to recommend to the ADB-JSP. The candidates are required to submit additional documents to APU.
  3. Applicants selected to be recommended for this scholarship are notified with their final APU application results.
  4. The final scholarship award results are decided by ADB-JSP.
