The Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program is a prestigious scholarship initiative that attracts talented individuals from across the globe. This scholarship is open to students from all disciplines and geographies, as Stanford aims to cultivate global leaders.

Who Can Apply?

• Open to students from all disciplines and countries. Applicants must have completed their first bachelor’s degree within the past four years and be admitted to a graduate program at Stanford.
• You must complete not only your Knight-Hennessy Scholars application but also the entire application process including any standardized test that your graduate degree program requires (GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.) and if needed, an English proficiency test.

Application Procedure

• Visit the Knight-Hennessy Scholars website and create an account to begin your application.
• Fill out the application form, including personal and academic information.
• Submit Required Documents:
  • Academic Transcripts: Unofficial or self-reported transcripts from each institution attended.
  • Resume: A one-page resume highlighting your academic, personal, and professional accomplishments.
  • Recommendation Letters: Two recommendation letters from professors or mentors.
  • Essays: Two essays that detail how your life experiences have shaped you and your goals.
  • Short Answers: Respond to two short-answer prompts, including a list of eight improbable facts about you and your current goals.
  • Video Story: A 2-minute video telling your personal story.
• Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an in-person assessment, which will assess your leadership qualities and potential.

What Financial Support is Available?

• The scholarship provides a travel allowance to cover an economy-class ticket for one round-trip journey to and from Stanford each year.
• It also includes a stipend to cover living and academic expenses, such as accommodation, meals, books, study materials, local transport, and other reasonable personal costs.
• Additionally, the scholarship offers a fellowship to directly cover tuition fees and associated costs, in line with the standard departmental enrollment rates.
• However, the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program generally does not cover expenses that are typically paid by your home department at Stanford, such as subscriptions or lab equipment.
