Another benefit? There’s no age restriction for applicants. However, German nationals and students eligible for BAföG (federal student loans) are not eligible.

Who Can Apply?

International students (non-German citizens)
Students enrolled in a full-time program at the University of Hamburg
Those who’ve completed at least 2 semesters of study (or 1 semester for 2-year Master’s or PhD programs)
Applicants with strong academic records and social/international involvement
Must not receive similar financial support from other sources

Selection Criteria

Applicants are evaluated on:

Special recognitions, presentations, publications, or awards
Social involvement or voluntary activities

Reference letters from academic staff at Hamburg University

Transcript or STiNE printout (Bachelor’s)
Degree certificate (Master’s or PhD)
Two recommendation forms from doctoral-level teaching staff
