Trinity College Dublin (TCD) is one of Ireland’s oldest and most prestigious universities, known for its commitment to academic excellence, cultural diversity, and global partnerships. To encourage international students to experience Irish education and culture, TCD offers the Generation Study Abroad Scholarship. This scholarship provides financial support for students from the United States who are looking to study abroad at Trinity, enabling them to access a world-class education while broadening their global perspective.


Benefits

The scholarship provides recipients with financial aid (EUR 2,000), which helps to offset tuition and living expenses while studying at Trinity College Dublin. This support makes studying abroad in Ireland more affordable and accessible to students from diverse backgrounds.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants to the Generation Study Abroad Scholarship are required to provide evidence of financial need in order for their application to be reviewed. 
  • To qualify for the scholarship, students must apply to Trinity as an undergraduate study abroad student, i.e. coming to Trinity for a single semester or year for transfer credit from their home university in a non-EU country.
  • Applicants must apply for admission to study abroad at Trinity. Please note that Scholarship students must meet the minimum entry requirements, noting especially the minimum GPA of 3.3.
  • Submit a complete scholarship application, per guidelines below, by the relevant deadline.
  • Please note that students coming to Trinity via exchange are not eligible, as they must be fee-paying to qualify for study abroad scholarships. If you have questions about your fee status, contact your home university’s study abroad office to clarify.

Application Process

A personal statement of 750 words. This must address the following:

  • How studying abroad at Trinity will support your academic and personal goals
  • How the scholarship would help you to make the most of your experience abroad

ii) Students must also include their name, home institution, area of study, study abroad provider (if applicable), and confirm that they are not coming to Trinity via exchange.

Applications which include personal statements of more than 750 words or incomplete applications will not be considered.


Important Dates

Deadline : April 15 for Michaelmas Term and Academic Year Study Abroad, and October 15 for Hilary Term Study Abroad.
