We are excited to announce the Annual Catalyzing Pediatric Innovation (CPI) Grant Competition 2025! This grant program aims to bridge the gap in pediatric healthcare by supporting the development of novel pediatric medical devices that enhance patient experience, improve outcomes, and address unmet medical needs.
The Consortium for Technology & Innovation in Pediatrics (CTIP), an FDA-funded pediatric medical device accelerator centered at Lurie Children’s and CHLA, is dedicated to fostering innovation in pediatric healthcare by providing funding, mentorship, networking opportunities, and advocacy to promising pediatric device projects.
Funding Amount: Up to $50,000 per grant
Grant Duration: 1 year, with funds to be utilized within the first 6 months
Application Opens: March 17, 2025
Letter of Intent (LOI) Deadline: May 2, 2025
Final Application Submission: Invitation-based for selected finalists
Applications are open to startups, industry professionals, and academic researchers working on pediatric medical device projects at any stage of development. Eligible projects must meet the following criteria:
The innovation must be a novel pediatric medical device or technology.
The device must meet the FDA’s definition of a medical device.
Pharmaceuticals, chemical therapies, process improvements, and fetal-only devices are not eligible for funding.
The project must demonstrate a clear impact on pediatric healthcare by improving patient experience, quality, efficiency, or outcomes.
Projects must have achievable milestones within the funding period and be short-term, with funding allocated for a maximum of six months.
Letter of Intent (LOI) Submission – Interested applicants must submit an LOI by May 2, 2025.
Proposal Review – The CPI Grant Committee will evaluate submitted proposals based on comparative merits and innovation potential.
Finalist Selection – The most promising proposals will be selected as finalists.
Full Application Invitation – Selected finalists will be invited to submit a detailed application for final consideration.
In addition to funding, awardees will gain access to CTIP’s wrap-around support services, including:
Expert Advisory Support to guide device development and commercialization.
Networking Opportunities with key stakeholders in pediatric healthcare and medical device innovation.
Advocacy & Regulatory Assistance to help navigate the FDA approval process.
