The National Taiwan Library (NTL) is now accepting applications for the National Taiwan Library Fellowship 2025. This prestigious fully funded program provides international scholars with the opportunity to conduct research at Taiwan’s oldest public library for a period of 3 to 6 months. The fellowship aims to enhance academic collaboration and cooperation with foreign institutions, encouraging experts and scholars from global universities and research institutes to conduct academic research at NTL.

The fellowship provides comprehensive financial assistance, including:
Airfare Coverage:
Northeast/Southeast Asia: Up to NTD 35,000 for a round-trip economy ticket.
Other regions: Up to NTD 60,000 for a round-trip economy ticket.
Monthly Stipend:
Doctoral Degree Holders: NTD 60,000
Non-Doctoral Scholars: NTD 40,000
The fellowship primarily supports research in humanities and social sciences, with a strong emphasis on:
Taiwan Studies
Southeast Asian Studies
Utilization of the NTL collections
Applicants from all nationalities are encouraged to apply. The fellowship is open to:
Faculty Members: Professors, associate professors, assistant professors, senior lecturers, and lecturers at international universities.
Researchers: Postdoctoral researchers affiliated with foreign universities.
Doctoral Scholars: Ph.D. holders, doctoral candidates, and current Ph.D. students.
Library and Research Staff: Librarians and research personnel with equivalent academic status.
Other Candidates: Individuals recommended by institutions that have signed an academic cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with NTL, provided their research aligns with the specified subject areas.
Note: Individuals currently engaged in research, teaching, or studies in Taiwan are not eligible to apply.

Research Proposal (up to three pages in Chinese or English, following academic research standards)
Recommendation Letter (PDF format, to be sent by the referee to wyw25@mail.ntl.edu.tw with the subject "Recommendation Letter for [Applicant's Name]" by April 13, 2025)
Letter of Approval (issued by the highest administrative authority at the applicant’s home institution, such as the employer for staff or the university for doctoral students)

Submission Method: Only online applications are accepted; paper applications will not be considered.
Selection Results: The list of awardees will be published on the National Taiwan Library and Taiwan Studies Research Center websites by the end of May 2025.
Number of Fellowships: Typically, 1 to 3 primary awardees will be selected, with up to 2 alternate positions. However, the final number may be adjusted based on available funds and evaluation outcomes.
Registration Period: June 1, 2025 – June 30, 2025
Fellowship Duration: 3 to 6 months (must be within the same year and cannot be deferred to the following year).
