The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and McDonald’s are committed to supporting students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through the Black & Positively Golden® (B&PG) Scholarship Program. This initiative provides financial assistance to outstanding scholars, ensuring they have the resources needed to pursue higher education and succeed in their academic journeys.


Scholarship Details

For the 2025-2026 academic year, 63 scholars will be selected to receive scholarships of up to $15,000 ($7,500 per semester). These funds can only be applied to verifiable educational expenses, including tuition and standard academic fees.


McDonald’s Commitment to Education

Since partnering with TMCF in 2021, McDonald’s has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing education in Black communities. The B&PG Scholarship Program is part of this ongoing effort, providing both financial assistance and mental health support to HBCU students.


Additional Benefits

Beyond financial aid, scholars will also receive a subscription to Alkeme, a Black-owned mental health app. This platform offers an extensive library of wellness resources curated by Black mental health professionals, helping students maintain their well-being while excelling academically.

 


Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior at an HBCU during the 2025-2026 academic year.

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills and financial need.

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.


Application Process

Applicants must:

  1. Upload a professional image in school colors or a school logo.

  2. Submit a 2-minute video response to the following question:

    • What unique perspective, passion, or curiosity drives your academic interests? How do you envision it shaping your future as a scholar and leader in your field?

  3. After submission, indicate whether they are current or former McDonald’s team members (for potential additional scholarship consideration).

Application Timeline

  • Opens: November 11, 2024

  • Closes: April 25, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST
