The University of Manchester is dedicated to social responsibility and extending support to individuals impacted by conflict and displacement. Launched in 2022, the Humanitarian Scholarship Programme provides crucial assistance to those at immediate risk due to armed conflict, enabling them to pursue undergraduate studies.
Number of Awards: Up to five undergraduate scholarships are available for the 2025 intake.
Eligible Courses: A broad range of full-time undergraduate programs, excluding Medicine (MBChB), Dentistry (BDS), Nursing, and Architecture.
Program Duration: Standard three-year undergraduate degrees; an additional foundation year may be included if required.
Financial Coverage: Full tuition fees, living expenses, and visa costs.
Note: Scholarships for foundation programs are only available for the Integrated Foundation Year or Biosciences Foundation Year in engineering, natural sciences, and biosciences. Funding is not available for foundation programs in Humanities offered in partnership with INTO Manchester.
To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be at significant risk due to armed conflict or have been displaced from their home country within the past three years.
Lack access to or be unable to complete an undergraduate degree.
Have never studied at any level in the UK or EU.
Have applied for a full-time undergraduate program starting in September 2025.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to and understanding of their chosen course.
Possess an excellent academic record.
Note: Applications from individuals currently residing in the UK or EU are not eligible.
Step 1: Apply for Academic Admission
Submit a UCAS application for a full-time undergraduate course starting in September 2025. Applications open on 3 September 2024.
Meet the University’s general entry requirements and English language proficiency criteria. Country-specific qualifications can be checked on the University’s international admissions page.
Step 2: Apply for the Scholarship
Complete a separate scholarship application form available online from 3 February 2025.
The deadline for submission is 31 March 2025 (5 pm GMT).
Include your University of Manchester ID number in the application.
Upon submission, an automatic acknowledgment will be sent.
