Roger Arliner Young (RAY) Fellowship Program: Launch Your Career in Conservation and Clean Energy
The Roger Arliner Young (RAY) Fellowship Program is designed to create pathways for aspiring professionals in conservation and clean energy by offering practical experience, mentorship, and leadership training. With a strong focus on equity, environmental justice, and social impact, the program supports individuals from diverse backgrounds who are eager to drive change in these fields.
Available Fellowship Positions (2025-2027)
For the 2025-2027 fellowship cycle, the following positions are open:
- Conservation Special Projects Fellow
- Lost Species Fellow
- Guardians Fellow
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the 2025-2027 RAY Fellowship Cohort (Cohort 10), applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold an undergraduate degree earned after May 2022
- Have a strong interest in conservation and/or clean energy
- Show commitment to equity, environmental justice, and social change
- Have not yet held a full-time position in these fields
- Be authorized to work in the United States and commit to the two-year fellowship
- DACA recipients are welcome to apply
(While U.S. citizenship is not mandatory, applicants must have valid work authorization such as DACA, OPT, or permanent residency. Please note that RAY Host Organizations do not sponsor visas.)
Application Process & Requirements
The 2025-2027 RAY Fellowship application is now open! Interested candidates should:
- Complete the 2025 RAY Fellowship Application Form
- Submit a resume and proof of enrollment
- Answer two key prompts:
- Personal Experience & Leadership (Max 500 words): Describe how your personal experiences have influenced your interest in conservation and clean energy.
- Future Vision (Max 400 words or a creative submission): Imagine the world seven generations from now after solving today’s environmental challenges. How does it look? How have you contributed to this transformation, and how has the RAY Fellowship supported your journey? (Responses can be in text, artwork, video (max 2 minutes), podcast, or other creative formats. Submissions must be shared via URL, e.g., Google Drive, YouTube, or Vimeo.)
- Deadline: March 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM PT
Key Dates to Remember
- March 31, 2025 – Application deadline
- April 4, 2025 – Phone screenings begin
- April 22, 2025 – Interviews start
- Early June 2025 – Finalists notified
Selection & Placement
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Candidates who move forward in the selection process will be asked to rank their top three fellowship positions before final placement decisions are made.
