About the Fellowship

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the fellowship, applicants must:

Be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or postgraduate program by August 30, 2025.
Be authorized to work in the country where the fellowship is based.
Not have previously participated in the Google Policy Fellowship.

International students can apply as long as they meet the eligibility and work authorization requirements. Additionally, students accepted into a university program but not yet attending are also eligible.

Program Timeline

Application Deadline: April 4, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. ET / 9:00 a.m. PT.
Fellowship Duration: June 2025 – August 2025.
Application Review: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submissions are encouraged.
Selection Process: Host organizations reach out directly to candidates; no confirmation emails are sent upon application submission.

Stipend and Work Commitment

Full-time Fellows (40 hours/week): USD 12,000 stipend.
Part-time Fellows (20 hours/week): USD 6,000 stipend.
Payments are managed by host organizations and are subject to satisfactory performance evaluations and tax obligations.

Work Mode: In-Person or Remote?

While fellows are encouraged to work in-person in Washington, D.C., the final decision rests with the host organizations, which may offer remote options.

Required Documentation

Fellows should be ready to provide the following upon request:

Proof of enrollment or admission (e.g., transcripts, even photocopies).
A signed non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

Using the Fellowship for Course Credit

Students may use their fellowship work for academic credit if approved by their university. They can coordinate with their host organization for any necessary documentation.

Google’s Role in the Fellowship

Google funds and administers the program but does not select or supervise the fellows. The host organizations independently review applications, select fellows, and oversee their work. These organizations operate independently from Google and do not represent Google’s views or policies.
