ICIQ Spain Summer Fellowship 2025 – A Fully Funded Research Opportunity for Aspiring Scientists

Applications are now open for the ICIQ Spain Summer Fellowship 2025, a prestigious 10-week paid internship designed for international undergraduate students. Hosted by ICIQ (Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia), this program offers students the chance to gain hands-on research experience under the mentorship of ICIQ PhD and postdoctoral researchers.

Eligibility Criteria

Open to students from all countries.
Only undergraduate students are eligible (graduate students cannot apply).
Candidates must be in their 3rd year or final year of undergraduate studies or have completed at least 50% of their credits.
Applicants should have an academic background in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Applied Math, Data Science, Biology, or related fields.
Candidates from unrelated disciplines will not be considered.

Letter of Motivation – Explain your interest in joining ICIQ and state your availability.
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Academic Records – Official transcripts since the beginning of the Bachelor's program.
If transcripts are not in Catalan, Spanish, or English, a certified translation is required.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted via ICIQ’s Career Portal:
Candidates can select up to two preferred ICIQ research groups, though priority will be given to their first choice.
By April 2025, applicants will be notified about their selection status.
The final list of successful candidates will be published on ICIQ’s official website by the end of April.

Program Conditions

The internship officially starts on July 1st, 2025.
If a fellow’s stay is shorter than 10 weeks, the stipend will be adjusted proportionally.
Non-EU nationals must arrange their own medical insurance for the program’s duration.
EU nationals must obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before arriving in Spain.
Tax Withholding: Fellows classified as non-residents will have a 24% tax deduction, while EU/EEA residents will be taxed at 19%.

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by an internal selection committee.
Shortlisted candidates will receive notification in April 2025.
Selected fellows must confirm their acceptance and begin their fellowship at ICIQ no later than the first week of July 2025.
