Applicants must have obtained their degree before commencing their DAAD-funded studies in Germany.
The scholarship supports:
A Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification at a state or state-recognised German university.
A complementary course that does not lead to a final qualification (not applicable to undergraduate studies).
Exclusions:
Funding is not available for Master’s or postgraduate programmes that have already begun in Germany.
Study periods abroad during the scholarship tenure may be funded only if they are necessary for the programme and do not exceed specific durations (typically up to 25% of the scholarship period, with exceptions for joint/double-degree programmes).
Programmes must allocate a minimum number of Credit Points (CP) in design projects:
120 CP programmes: at least 45 CP in Design/Projects
90 CP programmes: at least 34 CP in Design/Projects
60 CP programmes: at least 23 CP in Design/Projects
The programme also supports projects focusing on monument preservation and construction in existing buildings.
Master’s Degree Programme: Between 10 to 24 months, depending on the standard duration of the chosen programme.
Complementary Studies (Non-Degree Programmes): One academic year.
Most scholarships commence on 1st October of the following year, with earlier starts possible if a German language course is required.
The DAAD scholarship provides extensive financial and academic support, including:
Monthly stipend of €992
Travel allowance
One-time study allowance
Health, accident, and personal liability insurance coverage
Additional benefits (where applicable):
Rent subsidy
Monthly allowance for accompanying family members
Disability or chronic illness subsidy (subject to approval)

If a candidate is awarded a DAAD scholarship but does not gain admission to any listed universities, the scholarship will be revoked.
The DAAD does not cover tuition fees, so applicants must check individual university policies regarding tuition costs.
