The Storytelling with Data Fellowship is an empowering initiative designed for feminist storytellers, journalists, and gender advocates eager to harness the power of data-driven storytelling in advancing gender equality. Hosted by Equal Measures 2030 (EM2030), this fellowship provides participants with the necessary tools to transform gender data into compelling narratives that drive policy change, activism, and social impact.
Feminist movements and advocates have played a crucial role in challenging inequalities, advocating for policy changes, and ensuring accountability. However, access to reliable and actionable gender data remains a significant hurdle.
Effective use of gender data strengthens advocacy efforts, offers evidence for policy reforms, and amplifies feminist voices. This fellowship bridges the gap between data, storytelling, and activism by equipping advocates with the skills to integrate gender data into their work, making their messages more impactful.
The Storytelling with Data Fellowship is designed to:
Transform gender data into compelling stories that engage diverse audiences.
Increase the visibility and impact of the SDG Gender Index through innovative storytelling formats.
Train feminist advocates in data-driven storytelling to influence policy and advocacy efforts.
Produce high-quality multimedia content such as blogs, videos, podcasts, infographics, and social media campaigns.
Build a global network of feminist storytellers committed to using data narratives for advocacy.
This six-month fellowship requires a commitment of 120–180 hours and follows a structured approach with four key phases:
Introduction to the 2024 SDG Gender Index
Identifying regional gender data stories
Hands-on workshops covering narrative development, data visualization, and audience engagement
Creation of storytelling content, including blogs, videos, infographics, podcasts, and interactive media
Publishing and promoting storytelling pieces through EM2030 platforms, advocacy reports, and global campaigns
The fellowship is open to:

This stipend is intended to cover costs related to content production, including software, tools, and other creative resources.
