The Climate Mobility Fellowship (CMF) is a premier initiative by the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM), aimed at equipping young leaders with the expertise, networks, and practical skills needed to develop solutions for climate mobility. Over a 12-month period (June 2025 – May 2026), selected fellows will gain hands-on experience in climate governance, policy advocacy, and project implementation.
The fellowship welcomes 12 participants from Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean, and the Pacific, including four fellows from Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Fellows will:
Develop expertise in climate mobility governance, policy, and research
Gain hands-on experience in GCCM programs
Expand their professional networks through global conferences
Lead an impact-driven project to advance climate mobility solutions
Each fellow will receive a monthly stipend of $800 for the entire duration. Additionally, travel and accommodation expenses for fellowship-related events and training will be covered.
The CMF program is built around four key pillars:
Fellows will undergo two structured training phases:
In-Residence Training (16–27 June 2025): A two-week, in-person immersive program focused on climate mobility policies and governance.
Virtual Training (25 August–5 September 2025): Online sessions covering advocacy, communications, project development, and action planning.
Fellows will be actively involved in GCCM initiatives, contributing to:
Policy research and data analysis
Regional programming
Public advocacy and strategic communications
CMF fellows will have access to key international climate forums, including:
UN Oceans Conference & Berlin Climate Mobility Forum (June 2025)
UN High-Level Week & Climate Mobility Summit (September 2025)
COP30 (November 2025)
Through these global convenings, fellows will engage with decision-makers, participate in expert panels, and gain insights into international policymaking.
Fellows will design and implement a project tackling a climate mobility challenge in their region. Projects may:
Innovate within existing GCCM practices (e.g., policy research, climate finance, youth engagement, communications)
Develop new initiatives that contribute to climate mobility solutions
At the end of the program, fellows will present their project outcomes and become part of GCCM’s alumni network.
