The Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship provides funding to universities in Australia for domestic and international students pursuing Higher Degree Research programs. The Australian National University (ANU) offers the RTP alongside other scholarships, such as the University Research Scholarship, in two annual rounds.

Scholarship Rounds:

  • Round 1: This round is divided into two segments — one for international candidates (closing on 31 August) and another for domestic candidates (closing on 31 October). Scholarships are intended for students commencing from January to March the following year. Current ANU students who have been enrolled for less than a year may also apply through a special form.

  • Round 2: This round, which closes on 15 April each year, is typically smaller and provides scholarships for students starting between January and August of the same year.

When applying for admission to a Higher Degree Research program, applicants can select the RTP scholarship along with other options. There is no separate application form for the RTP, except for current ANU students.
