Scholarship Benefits

Undergraduate Scholarships

Scholarship amounts are based on academic performance and categorized into three levels:

  • Level A: CAD $13,740.60 per year (30 credits) / CAD $6,870.30 per semester (15 credits)

  • Level B: CAD $6,548.40 per year (30 credits) / CAD $3,274.20 per semester (15 credits)

These amounts are directly deducted from tuition fees.

Master’s Scholarships

International students pursuing a Master’s degree receive a partial tuition fee exemption:

  • Research Programs: CAD $15,150 per year (45 credits)

  • Non-Research Programs: CAD $10,788.75 per year (45 credits)

PhD Scholarships

International PhD students benefit from a full waiver of additional tuition fees, paying the same rates as Quebec residents:

  • CAD $22,908.60 per year (45 credits)

  • CAD $7,636.20 per semester (15 credits)

These amounts are directly applied to tuition fees, significantly reducing financial burdens.


Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Université de Montréal Scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be proficient in English

  • Be an international student from any country

  • Hold a valid study permit (not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident)

  • Be enrolled full-time in a degree program

  • Not receive any other tuition exemption (e.g., French and Belgian Francophone students with existing waivers)

Explore the university’s Compass tool to check program details, entry requirements, and deadlines before applying.

Step 2: Monitor Your Application Status

Once submitted, track your application status via the Student Centre, where you will receive updates and your admission letter.

Step 3: Accept Your Admission Offer

Upon acceptance, applicants are automatically considered for the UdeM Exemption Scholarship—no separate application is required.

Step 4: Receive Your Scholarship Award Notification

After confirming admission, UdeM will notify you via email about your scholarship amount. Keep this document for future reference.
