The Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) is a prestigious scholarship programme aimed at high-achieving individuals from developing countries. Administered by the Swedish Institute (SI), this scholarship offers a unique opportunity for future global leaders to pursue master’s degrees in Sweden. With a focus on sustainable development, SISGP is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to drive change and contribute to the growth of their home countries.


Benefits

  • Full tuition fee coverage. The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university each semester.
  • A monthly allowance of SEK 12,000 to cover your living expenses throughout the study period.
  • A travel grant of SEK 15,000 (10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). This is a one-time payment and does not apply for students already living in Sweden.
  • Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) – a platform to help you grow professionally and build a network while in Sweden.
  • After your scholarship period has ended, you become a member of the SI Alumni Network. As a member, you get a unique opportunity for continued networking and professional development.

The scholarship does not cover

  • an insurance. 
  • additional grants for family members.
  • application fee to University Admissions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Required Language: English
  • Eligible Countries:You must be a citizen of a country that is eligible for the scholarship program.
    • Citizens of the following countries are eligible to apply to the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals:
    • Armenia; Azerbaijan; Bangladesh; Bolivia; Belarus; Brazil; Cambodia; Cameroon; Colombia; Ecuador; Egypt; Ethiopia; Gambia; Georgia; Ghana; Guatemala; Honduras; Indonesia; Jordan; Kenya; Liberia; Malawi; Moldova; Morocco; Myanmar (Burma); Nepal; Nigeria; Pakistan; Peru; Philippines; Rwanda; South Africa; Sri Lanka; Sudan; Tanzania; Tunisia; Uganda; Ukraine; Vietnam; Zambia; Zimbabwe.
  • Work experience: You must have a minimum of 3,000 hours of demonstrated employment.
  • Leadership experience: You must have demonstrated leadership experience from your current or previous employment.
  • University admissions: You must be liable to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities, have followed the steps of university admission, and be admitted to one of the eligible master’s programs by 3 April 2025.
  • Country of citizenship: You must be a citizen of a country that is eligible for the scholarship program.
  • Dual citizenship: If you have dual citizenships and both are eligible for SI scholarship program(s), you should choose only one of the citizenships when applying for SI scholarships. This means that you can only apply to one SI scholarship program. Applicants who apply to more than one SI scholarship using more than one citizenship, will be disqualified.
  • Master’s programs: The master’s studies must be eligible for SI scholarships


Application process

The application process for the SISGP scholarship is competitive, with multiple stages. Applicants must first apply and be admitted to a Swedish university. Once they have received an admission letter, they can apply for the scholarship through the Swedish Institute's online portal. The application requires several documents, including a CV, letters of recommendation, and a detailed motivational statement outlining the candidate's leadership potential and commitment to sustainable development.

Required documents:

  • A motivation letter: you must use the SISGP form for motivation letter 2025/2026.
  • A Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Two different letters of reference
  • Proof of work and leadership experience
  • A copy of your passport

Important Dates

10 – 26 February 2025: The online application portal is open

26 February 2025, 14:59 (CET): The online application portal closes

27 March 2025: Selection results for your applications to the universities are published on Universityadmissions.se

24 April 2025: A list with the successful candidates will be published on si.se

25 April 2025: An official SI scholarship offer is sent to the successful candidates by e-mail

1 May 2025: Deadline for successful candidates to accept their SI Scholarship offer
