The MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship is a transformative initiative designed to support and empower women from around the world who are pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Launched by MPOWER Financing, this scholarship aims to bridge the gender gap in STEM disciplines and promote diversity in higher education. The underrepresentation of women in STEM fields is a global issue. While the world continues to evolve in science and technology, women face systemic challenges, including lack of funding, gender biases, and limited access to resources. The MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship seeks to address these challenges by providing financial support to high-achieving women, allowing them to pursue their dreams and contribute to the global STEM ecosystem.

Benefits

Scholarships are awarded annually to female international/DACA students currently enrolled or accepted to study full time in a STEM degree program at an MPOWER-eligible international study program in the United States or Canada.

Grand Prize: US$6,000
Runner-Up: US$2,000
Honorable Mention: US$1,000

Eligibility Criteria

Be accepted at, or enrolled in, a full-time degree program at an MPOWER-eligible school in the U.S. or Canada
Be an international student allowed to legally study in the U.S. or Canada, as applicable:
- For study in the U.S., this means that the applicant meets one of these criteria:
  - Has a valid visa that permits study in the U.S.
  - Is protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
  - Is a U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder)
- For study in Canada, this means the applicant meets one of these criteria:
  - Is a Canadian permanent resident
  - Has a valid Canadian study permit

Application Process

To apply for the MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship, applicants must be enrolled in a STEM programme at a U.S. or Canadian partner institution. They must also submit an essay detailing their academic and professional goals, their passion for STEM, and how they plan to use their education to make a positive impact in their field.
