The B.A. Krukoff Fellowship in Systematics, sponsored by the Bentham-Moxon Trust, provides financial support for students pursuing an MSc in Plant and Fungal Taxonomy, Diversity, and Conservation. The bursary is administered by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew), and focuses on research in Tropical African botany, fostering the next generation of leaders in this crucial field.
Fellowship Benefits
The fellowship provides comprehensive financial support, including:
- Tuition Fees: Full coverage of MSc programme tuition fees.
- Monthly Stipend: £18,000 for accommodation, subsistence, daily travel, and costs for the Madagascar field trip.
- Additional Costs: Up to £3,000 for visa applications, the UK healthcare surcharge, and travel expenses to and from your home country.
- Total Bursary Value: Up to £21,000.

Recipients will join one of the following MSc programmes at Queen Mary University:
- Plant and Fungal Taxonomy
- Plant and Fungal Diversity
- Plant and Fungal Conservation
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the B.A. Krukoff Fellowship in Systematics, applicants must:
- Academic Offer: Hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) for the Kew/QMUL MSc in Plant and Fungal Taxonomy, Diversity, and Conservation.
- Experience in Tropical African Botany: Demonstrate expertise and a commitment to contributing to Tropical African botany.
- Future Impact: Outline how they will continue to work in and make an impact on Tropical African botany after completing the course.
- Nationality: Applicants from countries that are members of the African Union are eligible.
- UK Study Requirements: Be eligible to study in the UK and meet visa requirements before the course begins in September 2025.
- No Other Funding: Not hold any other bursaries or grants for the MSc programme.
