The Local Pathways Fellowship (LPF), under the aegis of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth Initiative (SDSN Youth), is a transformative program aimed at empowering young urban leaders worldwide. The fellowship equips these leaders with the resources, knowledge, and connections they need to address urban challenges and contribute to the realization of Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11): Making cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
Program Overview
Duration: February – November 2025
Location: Worldwide, Remote
The LPF fosters innovation and action by connecting fellows with a global network of professionals, experts, and peers. The program encourages diverse regional representation and welcomes applicants from cities across the globe.
Applications are open from December 23, 2024, to January 19, 2025.

Learning
Fellows explore urban challenges and opportunities, gaining insights into areas like infrastructure, culture, and economic potential. The fellowship emphasizes how urban development can be a catalyst for global progress.

Fellows apply their knowledge by designing and implementing projects tailored to the challenges of their cities. These projects become the cornerstone of their fellowship journey.

Participants join a robust community of 550+ fellows from over 180 cities in 80 countries, exchanging ideas and building collaborative solutions.

Expert Mentorship
Through webinars and other platforms, fellows receive guidance from leading urban development experts.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the fellowship, applicants must:
- Demonstrate a passion for sustainable development, particularly SDG 11 and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
- Possess knowledge in urban planning, sustainability, advocacy, or related fields, with at least one year of academic or professional experience.
- Exhibit strong leadership, organizational, and team collaboration skills.
- Be fluent in English and the local language of their represented city.
- Be aged between 18 and 30 years.
- Have reliable internet access and the ability to commit 4-6 hours per week for 10 months.
Key Responsibilities
As a Local Pathways Fellow, you will:
- Engage in structured learning modules to understand urban challenges and solutions.
- Design and execute a localized project addressing a specific urban issue.
- Collaborate with a global network of peers and mentors.
- Participate in monthly activities and meet deliverable deadlines.
- Share knowledge and insights through webinars and interactive sessions.
