The University of Saskatchewan (USask) is one of Canada's premier research-intensive institutions, recognised for its interdisciplinary approach, combining human, animal, and plant studies on a single campus. The University Graduate Scholarship (UGS) program provides outstanding students pursuing Master’s or Doctoral studies an opportunity to excel. This prestigious scholarship supports scholars in select fields, ensuring they can focus on their research and academic aspirations.

Scholarship Benefits
The UGS provides financial and academic support to its recipients:
- Master’s Program
- Annual stipend of CAD 25,000 (up to 2.5 years)
- Full tuition coverage
- PhD Program
- Annual stipend of CAD 30,000 (up to 4 years)
- Full tuition coverage
- Additional Support
- CAD 5,000 travel allowance for research-related expenses
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements to qualify for the UGS:
- Language Requirement: Proficiency in English
- Academic Standing:
- Minimum 80% average as a continuing student or as an entrance average for prospective students.
- Enrollment Status:
- Full-time, fully-qualified graduate student at USask.
- Must be within the first 36 months of a Master’s program or the first 48 months of a Doctoral program.
- Nomination: Students must be nominated by their respective departments.
Application Process
Follow these steps to apply for the UGS:

Prepare Application Documents:
- Cover letter outlining the progress or proposed research.
- Updated CV detailing academic and research accomplishments.
- Research program outline (maximum 500 words).
- Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (except USask).

Submit Letters of Recommendation:
- Three reference letters from individuals familiar with your academic work.
- Letters should be sent directly to gradstudies.awards@usask.ca with the scholarship name and applicant’s details mentioned.

Complete Online Application:
- Visit the USask Graduate Scholarship portal and submit all required documents before the deadline.
Important Dates
Duration:
- Master’s: Up to 3 years
- PhD: Up to 4 years
